Dum Wale Aloo

Cooking Time:- 1 hr
Servings:- 4-6

Ingredients:-

  1. 350 grams baby potatoes
  2. Oil for deep frying and 2 tbsp for making tadka
  3. 1 small chopped onion
  4. 2 black cardmoms
  5. 2 tbsp ginger paste
  6. 2 tbsp garlic paste
  7. 1 tbsp red chilli powder
  8. 1 tbsp coriander powder
  9. 1/2 tbsp cashew nut paste
  10. 1/2 cup tomato puree
  11. 1/2 cup yogurt whisked
  12. Salt, as per taste
  13. 1 tbsp dry fenugreek leaves
  14. 3-4 tbsp fresh cream
Directions:-
  1. Wash and peel the potatoes and dry them with the help of a cloth.
  2. Heat oil in a pan for frying the potatoes and deep fry them till lightly browned.
  3. Boil onion with one tbsp water, two black cardamom seeds for two to three minutes and grind them into fine paste.
  4. Heat oil in a pan and add boiled onion paste and cook until oil separates.
  5. Add ginger and garlic paste and mix it well.
  6. Add red chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, cashew nut paste, tomato puree and yogurt and mix well.
  7. Add deep fried potatoes and add approximately 3 cups of water and salt as per taste.
  8. Simmer it for some time and garnish with kasuri methi and dash of fresh cream and serve hot with paranthas or tandoori or butter naans.
